Dried Herbs for Herbal Steam Mini Facial Recipe

Herbal Steam: Mini Facial

For a mini facial, follow this cleansing steam with your favorite Fredericksburg Farm Toner and Moisturizer.

Steaming opens pores to release impurities missed during regular cleansing. Herbs in the steam soothe the skin and relax the body.

2 quarts distilled water
1/2 cup of your favorite dried herbs (chamomile, sage, peppermint, thyme) or a mixture in any portion.

In a covered pot, heat water and herbs to boiling. Remove pot from stove. Let cool a bit. When preparation is still steaming, but not scalding, carefully lean face over the pot and drape a towel over your head and the pot. Relax, breathe deeply for at least five minutes. Discard preparation when finished or cool down even more and use it to water some of your herb garden.

When people say they want to "spice up" their lives, the way to do so might literally be found in the kitchen cabinet. Many herbs and spices have uses beyond spicing tonight's dinner.

Ginger "came out of the closet" when this tuberous root appeared in stories about sexual performance, and was claimed as a "cure" for male impotence. No wonder, then, that ginger reputedly promotes confidence, courage, assertiveness, as well as a good memory!

Not for the faint hearted, other spices, such as black pepper, whose oil is extracted from the plant's berries, come on as powerful, lusty essences; they are famous for their staying power--on the battlefield and in the bedroom. Basil's self-controlled sweetness, vanilla's rich softness, and sandalwood's round woodiness are often added to spicy fragrances to keep things on the civilized side.
